The COMPANY: Colours of Australia was started in 1991 by Renske Carbone who was joined in the business by her husband John in 2000. Together they have grown the business and relocated it to Melbourne from Fremantle in 2002. In 2011 they started to build their own warehouse in Williamstown with spacious accommodation on top. See "Warehouse" for progress photos. The business has specialized in designing colourful gifts, home wares, childrens products, craft products, and a range of women's fashion with a special focus on natural fabrics. The latest project is researching natural dyes both for application to their own products as well as for others to use. The PRODUCT RANGE: The business was started with a range of hand painted scarves that were sold to Georges, Aherns and a host of other retailers long since gone....(it wasn't the scarves I'm sure!). We then branched out into kids products and bedlinen before heading off overseas. We started working in China where we developed a world first: hand painted rubber boots with matching accessories. Further branching out into garden related giftware helped grow the business even more. In 2005 we started working in Bangladesh and moved to Nepal the following year, where the very succesful Papoose range was born and is still made. In the last couple of years we have added fashion garments to our ranges (Pupucci) and are working hard on developing products made of natural fibre and we are developing a range of natural dyes (Eco Dyes). We don't stand still for long, always looking for new opportunities, to keep our customers happy and interested and ourselves motivated and excited. We invite you to join in!
